The capital of Slovakia is Bratislava, which is on the Danube and dominated by Bratislava Castle. The city has an official population of 430,000 after the last census, but this is a very scewed number, as recent estimates put it at more than 600,000, not counting commuters. On a normal working day, 1/7 of all Slovaks can be found in Bratislava.
